Background and Experience

LaToya Rivers graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a bachelor’s in political science and received her master’s degree in public administration from Strayer University. Her career path led her to the Health and Human Services Sector, where she has been employed with Mecklenburg County for 20 years. Currently, her role is a nationally certified Welfare Fraud Investigator for Mecklenburg County.  She has always been engaged in helping her community. She serves as Chair of the Pottstown Heritage Group in addition to serving on the NROC Committee with Habitat for Humanity’s Northern Region.  Her hobbies include reading, writing, and traveling; but mostly enjoying her two daughters, Imani and Laila, which are her pride and joy.

Reason for Running

LaToya says "It’s important for me to give back to my community! Why? Because my community raised me to be the woman that I am today! I want to serve as a voice for all Huntersville Communities and build trust back in our town government."
