What is a Precinct?

A local precinct is the smallest unit of political organization within a community, often serving as the foundation of local democracy. It's where residents come together to discuss issues that directly affect their neighborhoods, organize around shared values, and make their voices heard in elections. 

Each precinct plays a vital role in ensuring that every vote counts and that local concerns are represented at all levels of government. By participating in precinct meetings and activities, people strengthen their community's influence, build connections with neighbors, and help shape the policies and leaders that impact their daily lives. 

Getting involved in your precinct is one of the most essential ways to help Democratic candidates win elections.  Each precinct elects a chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer every two years. These are volunteer positions. We need you to come to your meetings, elect officers or run for a position yourself! This is your chance to "find your people" and to be part of the positive change you want to see in Huntersville, the county, state, and country.
